Whats an On On Dot?
An On On Dot is the most common flour marker you will find on the hash track. It symbolises you are running a track set by the hares and as long as you follow these you should complete the run. (should). Don't forget to call out On On as you run past them! It is important to note that this "dot" shape isnt always so "dottish". There have been sitings of turtle shapes, strange alien symbols and even one siting by Shoeless of a Stapler??
Whats a Check?
A Check means that there are multiple possible tracks around and only one is the correct track. Send people along as many possible tracks and call out when you've found 3 on on's. Don't forget to help fellow hashers by marking the correct track once you have found it. To do this, just break the circle on the side that faces the correc track. And for those lazy buggers, checks arent just a place to let the runners do the work!

Whats a False Trail?
A False Trail is used to let the Hasher know they are on the wrong trail. The hasher must go back to the last Check and try another track. Sometimes the false trail is the most demoralising of symbols, imagine just jogging your way up the top of a steep slope, reaching the top and stopping for breath, with your hands on your knees looking downwards, a false trail symbol stares you right in the face. BAM!
Whats a Back Check?
A Back Check is similar to a False Trail in that you dont run past that point. It is different in that, you dont need to go all the way back to the last check, the correct trail is between the back check and the last check. Good luck finding that trail!
Whats a Special Hash Symbol?
Sometimes on longer hash tracks there are special hash symbols that are used for a specific purpose. An example is a Hash Halt which means the leader of the pack must stop and wait for all of his or her group to catch up, and then move on as a team, OR my personal favourite, the Hash View Point...
